Words of Wisdom for the Book of Daniel

In this work, which is the third book I have recently read by Brian Russell again he manages to expound the Book of Daniel in a very readable way – which is a clear sign of a man of God who knows and loves His word. What, in my opinion make this Book so valuable is his exposition of the latter half of Daniel, chapters seven to twelve, which is often prone to rather fanciful interpretations. So, on page 132 he issues this sound advice to the reader and the expositor: ‘Because of the complex nature of these apocalyptic visions, a word of caution is necessary. There are two mistakes we need to guard against as we seek to interpret the various related symbols. The first mistake, of course, is to assume that we can explain every detail in visions that God revealed to Daniel. The prophet himself was perplexed on some issues (7:15 – 16 and 12:8 – 9). The second mistake is to…’ Well, you will have to buy to book to find out what the second mistake is! You may not agree with some of his conclusions, but you cannot nor should not disagree with the author's passion for the Lord and seeking to apply the word of God to the live of the believer. Another excellent book which is worth having on your bookshelves.
