There's been huge cultural change in the last few decades. Same-sex marriage would have been unthinkable 20 or 30 years ago. Now it's almost universally accepted in the Western world. Now suddenly the issue of transgender is the next big social, cultural issue that has dominated the headlines. Vaughan Roberts surveys the Christian worldview and seeks to apply these principles to the many complex questions surrounding gender identity. This short book gives an overview and a starting point for constructive discussion as we seek to live in a world with different values, and love, serve and relate to transgender people. Talking Points is a series of short books designed to help Christians think, talk and relate to others with compassion, conviction and wisdom about today's big issues.

Clear and Compassionate

I bought two of these at the Keswick Convention: one for me and one for a Christian colleague. It is 74 short pages and serves as an excellent introduction to this complex topic. It is written sensitively by an author who has personal insight into related issues. Throughout, the book is biblical and - as it says on the cover - written with compassion. I would recommend this book to all Christians including secondary-school-aged children and teenagers. It is easy to read and even has a helpful glossary to those who may not be familiar with the subject-matter and its jargon. My teenage daughter has already given it away to a friend who is questioning these issues. So, not only will I have to buy another for my Christian colleague, but I am thinking of buying several more to give to other non-Christian colleagues and friends who would find its clarity and grace helpful, informative and refreshing.
